Job description
Talabat is seeking a highly strategic and technically accomplished Director of Data Science to lead growth-focused data initiatives across its marketing, Q-commerce, and revenue optimization streams. This leadership role will define the vision and execution of data science across key business areas such as churn reduction, campaign effectiveness, and new monetization channels. You will lead a high-performing team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers while working closely with marketing, product, and partner growth executives to enable transformative, data-driven decisions. Key responsibilities
- Define and execute an enterprise-level data strategy aligned with Talabatās growth objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement data-driven solutions that enhance marketing efficiency, customer retention, and ecosystem monetization.
- Provide strategic leadership to ensure data science drives measurable business impact across user acquisition and product innovation.
- Manage a large team of data professionals, including analysts, engineers, and data scientists, while overseeing budgets and resources.
- Mentor team leaders, develop career paths, and build a high-performance culture.
- Collaborate with executive stakeholders to define KPIs, prioritize initiatives, and translate business challenges into scalable data products.
- Oversee growth experimentation pipelines, A/B testing design, and causal inference frameworks.
- Drive partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborations with external stakeholders, vendors, and academic institutions.
- Develop and implement change management plans that facilitate new processes and technologies within the organization.
- Analyze market trends and identify emerging technologies to ensure Talabat stays ahead in data-driven innovation.
Experience & skills
- 8ā10+ years of professional experience in data science roles, including leadership and team management.
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Masterās) in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.
- Proven experience leading large data teams and scaling data science in a fast-growth digital environment.
- Strong knowledge of statistics, causal inference, modeling, and experimentation design.
- Track record of delivering business value through dataāe.g., revenue lift, cost savings, or user engagement improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organization-wide data strategy.
- Experience in Q-commerce, food delivery, or technology-led consumer platforms is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong understanding of the competitive landscape and emerging trends in digital analytics and AI.
