Job description
Standard Chartered is hiring a Director, Economist, MENA to lead and deliver in-depth macroeconomic research and client-led economic content on Pakistan and MENAP economies. Based in either UAE or Pakistan, this senior role combines strategic analysis, content development, and stakeholder engagement. The candidate will conduct economic research and forecasting, build relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients, and present insights to global audiences. The role is central to supporting the Bankās financial markets and policy discussions in one of the worldās most dynamic economic regions.

Key responsibilities
- Lead research and analysis on Pakistan and other MENAP economies to support client engagement and strategic insight.
- Produce high-quality publications, presentations, and ad-hoc reports based on economic forecasts and market trends.
- Construct and manage economic databases and visual content such as charts for reporting.
- Develop strong internal networks across Economics, FICC, Corporate Affairs, and Risk teams.
- Engage externally with clients, policymakers, academics, and media to communicate economic viewpoints and enhance the firmās market reputation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory frameworks, and reporting procedures.
- Support risk management functions through analytical insights and global economic forecasting.
- Collaborate with global research and strategy teams to ensure consistent and impactful economic messaging.
Experience & skills
- Degree in Economics or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- 8ā10+ years of experience in economic or investment research, especially in emerging markets.
- Demonstrated expertise in macroeconomic modeling, economic forecasting, and financial markets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Experience presenting to senior stakeholders, clients, and policy institutions.
- Advanced proficiency in economic analysis tools, database management, and visualization software.
- Understanding of compliance, regulatory obligations, and internal control standards.
