About the role
Provide specialized expertise, support and create innovative solution related with the execution of Cost Estimate and Forecasting assigned end-to-end cycle tasks, under Manager, Cost Control and Forecasting scope, acting as team player and executor of analyzing project specifications, assessing material and labor costs, and providing accurate cost estimates to support project proposals and budgets.;. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams. The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret project specifications, blueprints, and drawings.
- Conduct site visits to gather relevant data for estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Utilize software and tools to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and service information.
- Assist in developing project budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor project costs and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Prepare and present cost estimates and budget reports to management and clients.
- Maintain a database of past projects for reference and cost benchmarking.
- Analyze completed projects to identify areas for cost-saving and efficiency improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and regulations affecting costs.
- Development of detailed project cost estimate incorporating the actuals and MTO’s.
- Review of rates and activities before issuing cost estimates/work releases based on contract compensation.
- Verifying quantities of work releases based on available drawings.
- Reviewing third party quotations and ensuring following contract terms.
- Evaluating and preparing star rates/new rates before adding a change order to contracts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., Sage, RSMeans, Cleopatra).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) Arabic(Â Native) (desirable)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience in [specific industry, e.g., construction, manufacturing, etc.].
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
